Shapewear has been around for ages but is it time to officially consider it an outdated idea? Does shapewear play into society’s psychologically damaging quest for the fabricated image of ‘perfection’ that we try so hard to exploit? By wearing it are we lying to ourselves, or playing into what we think other people want from us? Or is it simply harmless? What do you think?
Hello Swaggers! I’m Abigail (czesc.tumblr.com), and I’m the new co-admin!
Fighting for fashionable plus size clothing has been a passion of mine for quite a long time. At the age of 11, I started bugging a large number of companies with constant petitions, letters, and emails about making plus size clothing for girls my age. I was even successful in winning over a few of them.
For plus size women over the years, society and the fashion world have become slightly more accepting and supportive. However, plus size men have been swept under the rug and forgotten and it’s just unacceptable. It’s a basic human right to be comfortable in our own skin, how on earth can anyone do that if they can’t even find clothes they are confident in wearing?! By joining CGS I’m hoping to find more opportunities to help open doors for plus size men. I’m open to offering advice and fashion tips, especially if you are looking for the insight of a woman, don’t be shy. I’d like to find and encourage more men to submit their pictures and/or stories about being a plus size man today. I’m looking forward to my future with CGS and helping out in anyway I can.
